IWBA Championships
The NIWBA had a great IWBA Championships this weekend at Ballymena, claiming 1 title and runners up in 3 more. Jennifer McClure's Castle Park rink won the Senior Fours with excellent wins against Margaret Johnston from the PTWBA and Sandra Bailie from the NIWPGL.
Teri Millar and Doreen Whelan from Lurgan just missed out on the Pairs title after a great performance in an epic final again Ashleigh Rainey and Lara Reaney from the NIWPGL. The game was in the balance right up until the last bowl with the Lurgan pair missing out by just 2 shots.
In the Triples, Laura Cassells' trio from Markethill had a great win against the experienced Alicia Weir (NIWPGL) in the semi final, but came up just short in the final against Margaret Paul (PTWBA) despite a valiant effort.
In the Rinks, Eileen Robson's Lurgan four defeated another experienced NIWPGL rink skipped by Sandra Bailie in the semi final, but lost out to the PTWBA rink skipped by Dessa Baird in the final.
And not forgetting the NIWBA's Singles representative - Marietta Lammey from Gilnahirk. She put up a great fight against eventual winner Sarah Kelly in the semi final, holding her own for much of the game, but losing out in the end.
All in all a great weekend for the NIWBA.
